Benoit Carpentier killing it at Hossegor, France with 2021 Starboard

This latest video of Benoit Carpentier competing at Hossegor, France really shows some great SUP surfing... pushing turns and smacking lips in the most critical sections of the wave.

But there was something else we noticed in this video after the first couple waves.

‘Which Starboard is that????’ Because that’s no 2020 board!’

We asked Benoit about this mystery board that looked shorter and wider at the nose and with a completely different tail shape to the current 2020 Starboard Pro models. He got back to us saying;

“I'm actually working with Starboard on the 2021 range and this board will be part of that new range! That one is 6.8. It's been great working the last 2 years on some boards, doing some test trips in Bali and having some great results and improvement as the equipment is evolving. Cannot tell to much about what's coming but definitely some great improvements :)”

Well if it makes me surf like that I want one!… But then again at 6’8″ maybe the bigger one! It’s good to see that riders like Benoit are working closely with Starboard and pushing SUP surfing and design to the next level. It’s always worth remembering that you get what you pay for! And having Benoit riding and testing boards for years is all part of that price!
